E.J. Élèves grew up in the small town of Cottage Grove, Minnesota. Attended school at Park Senior High, where he would later graduate in 1985, he was learned auto mechanics at 916 vocational school while he was still in high school. He later moved to Massachusetts, where he use his skill to be an auto mechanic. Fate stepped in and had other things planned for him when a mutual friend, Cynthia – who entered his life by the introduction from a friend, entering his where they began dating for the next six months, soon after they wedded. In 2004, E,J, welcomed fatherhood with the arrival of his son, Colton.

E.J.’s descent into storytelling was triggered by the bedtime stories he lovingly wove for Colton during his early years. Those precious moments ignited a desire within him to record those stories as Colton grew up this eventually shaped them into a book with the encouragement of his family. E.J.’s creation stands as testimony to the power of imagination, love, and unbreakable bonds for his son Colton and family. The first story written would later be known as Tempest Guardian Shadows of Time.
